Rivendell made their name in the late 70's playing around Inverclyde and gaining
a large following over a short period of time. They first giged in the 'Fairlight' hotel (now
The Spinnaker) and won the very first Melody Maker "Battle of the Bands" in Scotland.
From there they went on to the UK finals playing at the 'Roundhouse' in Camden.
In the last two or three years they have reunited a few times to the great delight of their
local followers, playing in various Greenock venues and donating their takings to local charities.
All members of Rivendell are still individually engaged in musical activities either professionally
or for pleasure. The Town Hall gig proved what we all know ...... they are still in great musical
shape !
Inner Sound grew in the late 60's and hit their high in the early seventies. They started by playing a great many Inverclyde venues and frequently played to crowds in Gourock's Cragburn. Other Scottish venues included Aviemore, Glasgow, Girvan, Dunoon and down in the Borders.
Laterly, the band played most of their gigs in Northern England where their brand of Hard Rock
was very popular. Highs were being billed fourth at Kendal Pop Festival along with Uriah Heep, Coloseum and Universe and then Lancaster University with Mott the Hoople. At one gig, they were even supported by the then unknown Smokie.
Although the band has reunited a few times for special private functions, the October 2007
Greenock Town Hall gig was a first public performance in 34 years, one that proved that they
were still more than able to perform in their old style with a few updates to their arrangements.
